Can I use my ZapTel phone card to place calls from my computer?

ZapTel carries 7 phone cards that can be used to place calls from your computer:

To use Internet Dialing you will need a broadband internet connection as well as a PC with Windows 2000 or better or a Mac with OS X 10.4 or better. In addition to a compatible computer, you will also need a microphone and speakers connected to your computer.

I use a USB headset that plugs into my laptop when I use my phone card from my computer. You'll also need to download SIP compatible software or hardware. I use Counterpath's X-Lite Softphone. It's a free download and on their site, they give you step-by-step instructions for using the software.

One really great advantage to internet dialing with ZapTel phone cards is that as long as you have a broadband connection, you can call from anywhere to anywhere at U.S. rates. This has worked great for many customers I've helped who have traveled for business or just have their computers with them when they're out of the country.

Just last week, I helped a customer traveling to Mexico who was going to need to make many business calls while he was away. He didn't know what kinds of phones he'd have access to while he was there, but he did know that he'd have his laptop and a broadband connection between his hotel and offices he was going to visit. While we carry a number of great cards that work well from Mexico, I thought the internet dialing option may be a little better for his calling needs.
