How to use your ZapTel phone card to place calls from your computer
August 16th, 2009
Is it easy to use my phone card to make calls from my computer?
For ZapTel phone cards that have the internet dialing option available, it is very easy to set up your PIN so you can make calls from your computer. Best yet, if you have a laptop and plan on traveling, you can make phone calls from all over the world at the US origination rates.
In order to use internet dialing, you must have a PIN for one of the following phone cards:
- Call the World
- Destination Cell
- Extreme Talk Time USA
- Flying Colors!
- International Student’s Choice
- Precision World
- Wireless World
Here are the system requirements and equipment you’ll need to make your calls:
- A PC with Windows 2000 or better or a Mac with OS X 10.4 or better.
- A broadband internet connection. a
- A microphone and speakers connected to your computer. I use a USB headset that plugs into my laptop when I use my phone card from my computer.
- You’ll also need to download SIP compatible software or hardware. I use Counterpath’s X-Lite Softphone. It’s a free download and on their site, they give you step-by-step instructions for using the software.
